I am married with 2 children and I live in the great city of Liverpool. I spent 16 years as a teacher of philosophy and ethics, and 12 years working as a specialist teacher supporting students with additional needs. It was during this time that I came to understand, from working with children, adolescents and their professionals that mental health, and the attrition of self-confidence, was the number one causative factors in depression, anxiety, and as a function – low attainment, low self-worth, hopelessness, stress and even agoraphobia.
I retrained as a psychotherapist and pluralistic counsellor and am privileged to spend my professional life helping adolescents, young people and adults regain control of their thoughts and emotions, and rediscover meaning within their lives. I have many hundreds of hours experience successfully working daily as a psychotherapist, and running parental support and advisory classes. I also run a private practice. I hold undergraduate and advanced degrees in law and bioethics, postgraduate qualifications in advanced educational practice, special educational needs and an Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have also recently finished a postgraduate qualification in Specialist Clinical Practice (Autism and LD).
All my education, training and professional experience can be distilled into one simple statement:
